Scruffy Grayling Bug

A new pattern has been added to my Step by Step tying page: the Scruffy Grayling Bug.

This is a good pattern for the times when grayling do not consider it necessary to rise to the surface. But need not be considered exclusively a grayling pattern, as this little brownie attests.

  1. Beautiful little pattern! Once I'm back at the tying desk these will be part of my winter tying schedule.

  2. Thanks Midgeman! These are simple and yet effective ties, easily replaceable (an important feature of heavy nymphs!)
The color of the butts in my picture is targeted at Grayling, when tying for trout you can consider other colors - such as bright red or orange - as well.
    Cheers!
